- We're looking for a proactive QHSE Manager to take ownership of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental management across two UK manufacturing sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business where you'll play a key role in driving compliance, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll lead the company's integrated management systems, ensuring compliance with ISO standards while promoting a positive quality and safety culture throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- 1The Role
- 2As QHSE Manager, you'll take ownership of the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental function, ensuring all systems, processes and procedures are maintained, audited and continuously improved.
- 3Working closely with production, engineering and supply chain teams, you'll support the business in delivering the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental performance.
- 4Key Responsibilities
- 5Own, maintain and continuously improve the company's integrated management systems.
- 6Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- 7Lead internal and external audits, acting as the key contact for certification bodies and customer audits.
- 8Manage document control and quality management processes.
- 9Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations relating to customer complaints, supplier issues and manufacturing non-conformances.
- 10Manage supplier quality processes, including supplier assessment, auditing and approval.
- 11Prepare and approve Quality Plans together with Inspection & Test Plans.
- 12Monitor, analyse and report QHSE KPIs to senior management.
- 13Prepare and chair Management Review meetings.
- 14Ensure all calibration activities are maintained and equipment remains compliant.
- 15Conduct and review Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Fire Risk Assessments and Legionella Assessments.
- 16Ensure full compliance with all relevant Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- 17Manage contractor approvals and statutory inspections.
- 18Investigate Health & Safety incidents, environmental incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions where required.
- 19Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, training, toolbox talks and engagement with operational teams.
- 20Work alongside Engineering and Production teams to identify and reduce operational risks.
- 21Support sustainability initiatives, including greenhouse gas reporting, life cycle assessments and environmental improvement projects.
- 22Manage waste compliance and environmental records.
- 23Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance, reduce waste and improve energy efficiency.
- 24Skills & Experience
- 25We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- 26Previous experience within a QHSE, HSEQ, SHEQ or similar management role.
- 27Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- 28Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- 29Experience leading internal and external audits.
- 30Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance.
- 31Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
- 32Strong leadership, communication and coaching skills.
- 33Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
- 34A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
- 35Commercial awareness and the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.
- 36Essential Qualifications
- 37NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- 38Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
- 39Environmental qualification such as IEMA / ISEP Certificate in Environmental Management (or equivalent).
- 40Risk Assessment training.
- 41Desirable
- 42Lean Manufacturing experience.
- 43Six Sigma knowledge.
- 44Membership of a relevant professional body.
- 45Practical experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

- 47Based in Leicester, with regular travel to a second UK manufacturing site and occasional visits to customers and suppliers.
